During Sinulog Festival

I was supposed to write this blog right after I got home, but I got unexpected sick for a couple of days and wasn’t able to do so. This is about my experience during our Sinulog trip together with Resty and Ging-Ging. It was really fun and full of surprises. We went to the city right after I posted my blog on January 17th, I think it was around 1pm. We really had a very difficult time taking a ride because there were a lot of people who are also going to the city for the Sinulog festival. However, we were lucky that an empty jeepney passed by and stopped right in front of us, so we immediately got in because all the people waiting where all to storm the jeepney. The jeepney we rode got really full that even some of the lady passengers squat on the floor just to take a ride. I think there just desperate to take a ride because there were few jeepneys while there're a lot of commuters waiting beside the road.

There are a couple of difficulties that a person has to under go during the Sinulog Festival. One of these difficulties is having a very difficult time take a ride, the second is having stacked in traffic, the third is its either a very hot weather or a rainy weather, the fourth is when your already in the city you will find it hard to go to places due to the crowd everywhere, the fifth is that when you eat in a restaurant you have to wait because all the restaurant and food chains are full, the sixth is if your not from Cebu you have to stay in a hotel, but you have to have a reservation because if not then you will be sleeping on the streets because every hotels/motels/inn is fully booked, and finally the last but not the least and the most troublesome of all the difficulties is that if your not the careful of your belongings specially your wallet then someone might be able to steal it. If your planning visiting the Sinulog Festival next year then you mostly be extra careful because most of the thieves in the Philippines is gathered in Cebu City during this event because they can easily steal because they just blend in the crowd and look for a victim.

So now back to my story about our Sinulog festival trip. After being stacked in traffic, we finally arrived in the city then we went to McDonalds to eat. I treated Resty and Ging-Ging some snacks, since they already eat their lunch but unfortunate for me, I had been starving because I still haven’t had lunch yet. Therefore, I ordered a 2pieces chicken meal with extra rice and a large coke. It was really delicious and a very satisfying meal. The McDonalds had a promo of a free henna tattoo if you purchase at least 200 pesos. Since our food we ordered is way pass 200 pesos, I decided to have I henna. Since Resty agreed that I can have one then there’s no holding back. I immediately went outside where they conduct the free henna tattoo while Resty and Ging-Ging went to a nearby clothes store. The tattoo artist took awhile painting my chosen tattoo because it was somehow complicated to draw, but it was nice though. After having my henna tattoo, I meet up with Resty and Ging-Ging to our rendezvous place then we hear mass at Basilica De Santo Niño. Going inside the church was difficult but going outside was more difficult because of all the mass hearers inside going outside at once was a very messy situation. People just started pushing just to go out, I was both in an offensive and defensive mode because I had to look after Resty and Ging-Ging so that they won’t get pushed around by the crowd while I had to push back some aggressive people near us. I was also more careful and for a lookout for pick pocket because they are famous during this kind of event. There were some kids beside me, and I don’t like seeing them being pushed by some adults, so I had to help them by stopping other people behind me and letting them go out first. I just love kids, so I really don’t like them getting hurt but some people just don’t really care about them. I just hate does kinds of people, if I can I’ll beat them to a pulp and let them apologize to those kids they got hurt.

When we finally got out, Resty and Ging-Ging were very busy looking around the stalls on the street. Resty bought a shoulder bag while Ging-Ging bought some stuffs, I can’t recall what those stuffs were. After a couple of hours looking for something to buy, we went to Jollibee to eat our dinner. After that we decide to go home, but we really had a very difficult time taking a ride. We had to walk from Colon to the Citi-Link Terminal to take a ride, it was a long walk and during that time my cough got worst that I can already feel like I’m going to vomit. We had to stop by a drug store to buy a medicine for my cough. When we almost near Citi-Link Terminal we noticed there were some cool fireworks display in the City that we see clearly from where we are. After that we took a ride home, but when I got home, I just sudden feel sick. My cough got even worse, and I had a fever and my body feel so weak. I immediately took some medicines then went to sleep. It was a really nice Sinulog Festival because I was with Resty.
